Electrostatic Discharge Control Requirements for the Protection of Electronic Components and Assemblies

The purpose of this document is to establish the standards for an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) control program designed to protect Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive (ESDS) components, subassemblies, and assemblies that are susceptible to ESD damage at voltage levels equal to or above 250 volts. For handling ultra-sensitive devices that can be damaged at voltage levels below 250 volts, Table 5-2 ESD Requirements for Workstations Handling ESD Sensitive Components, Class 1 and Table 6.1-1 ESD Certification and Periodic Inspection requirements become mandatory.
